HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met here today with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia Ahmed Isse Awad, who is currently visiting the country.

The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the car bomb on a main road in the Somali capital Mogadishu, which led to deaths and injuries.

National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Somalia’s Ministry of Women and Human Rights Development, on the sidelines of the second and final day of the conference titled “national, regional and international mechanisms to combat impunity and ensure accountability under the law,” organised by NHRC, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Parliament.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, HE Ahmed Issa Awad, received in his office at the Ministry the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Somalia HE Hassan bin Hamza Hashim.

His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued instrument of ratification approving a draft agreement on encouraging and protecting mutual investments between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Federal Republic of Somalia signed in Doha on December 13, 2018.

His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued Decree No. 17 of 2019 on ratifying a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the health field between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Federal Republic of Somalia signed in Doha on May 14, 2018, annexed to this decree and shall have the powers of a law in line with Article 68 of the constitution.

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the suicide attack which took place near government offices in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, causing deaths and injuries.

Her Highness met with each of the Prime Minister of Somalia, HE Hassan Ali Khaire, to discuss the importance for empowering youth, as well as Silatech’s ongoing efforts around the world.
