The State of Qatar, represented by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), continued support for development projects in the Federal Republic of Somalia as it started asphalt paving work on the Mogadishu-Afgoye road within Somalia Roads Project.
This project is part of the Somalia Roads Project, which is working on the construction of two roads, which are the Mogadishu-Jawhar Road and the Mogadishu-Afgoye Road, with a length of 112 km. The length of the Mogadishu-Afgoye road is 30km. The project will contribute to providing an ideal infrastructure by establishing highways between the capital Mogadishu and the neighboring cities (Afgoye, Balad and Jawhar).
It will also contribute mainly to moving the wheel of development in Somalia by exporting agricultural materials from the city of Jawhar through the port of Mogadishu, in addition to contributing to creating jobs for the Somali people through construction works, as the Somali cadres are a major factor in the project.
he Public Works Authority (Ashghal) contributed to providing technical support for the project and Estad Project Management Company is participating as a project supervision consultant.
QFFD laid the foundation stone for the Somalia Roads Project in 2019 during a ceremony sponsored by HE the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and in the presence of HE Director General of QFFD Khalifa Al Kuwari, in addition to a high-ranking delegation from QFFD.
